For my photojournalism project I used a Cannon 550D DLSR, I decided I wanted to concentrate on a day in the life of a musician. Many people have pre-conceived ideas on how it may be a rock star lifestyle but I wanted to explore the stereotype to see if there was any truth behind it. I followed the musician Gary Redding around for the day starting at his home, moving to his studio, writing songs and meeting friends for lunch at his local restaurant.

I chose to focus on this subject because it interested me and I wanted to see for myself if the stereotype was true or not. I travelled to the small village of Rottingdean on the outskirts of Brighton to capture my photo essay. I found the village was full of interesting characters and a very arty place. While at the restaurant Bistro Gourmand I met an ex model, a cinematographer and an ex movie star who all seemed to congregate at the restaurant to relax, reminisce on their pasts and discuss their futures. It was interesting to listen to how all of their lives linked with each others in how they all knew Gary and how they have or would like to work with him, whether it be making a biographical documentary or an album.

I tried to aim to take pictures while the main subject Gary was unaware of the camera to try to capture him in a natural state, as I wanted to try to document a true likeness to his daily routine as possible without too much interruption.
